The Art of Giving // The Art of Living

On February 24, 2014 by creativewavemovement

As artists, there is this constant need- and honestly, responsibility- for us to learn from years past, grow for our creativity’s sake, and keep an ever-present mind on giving and sharing what we’ve learned with colleagues. Doing so is our opportunity to let our creative flow live, and let live.  CreativeWave Movement took a moment to give CDubb artists, Emmie Brown and Mike Pagan, the opportunity to reflect on creative lessons learned from blunders, set-backs and successes, alike. Here is “The Art of Giving//The Art of Living: Giving Advice, Swapping Lessons, Giving Love Through the Power of Art”:

Emmie B:

What challenges were you creatively able to overcome as you continued pursuing your artistic passions this passed year?

Starting my business this passed year was challenging at times. There’s a lot that needs to be set up, from filing for a sole proprietorship to doing taxes (not fun!) Thankfully my parents and friends were able to help this clueless artist figure things out.

Any advice and well-wishes that you would give to any fellow creative mind embarking upon the journey of feeding their passions/dreams within 2014?

Make as much art as you can and enjoy doing it.

With 2013 behind us and 2014 in full swing, what are your artistic resolutions for this year?

I want to explore different subject matter. I have always wanted to do collages of landscapes, architecture, people, and other animals. My artistic resolution this year is to make time to pursue these subjects.

Art has the power to empower, to transform and to give unlike many mediums… What do you hope to give through your work this year?

I hope to continue to bring people joy through portraits of their pets. I know how dear animals are to the hearts of their owners, and to give people a representation of that special pet and to see the happiness it brings is so rewarding.

What challenges were you creatively able to overcome as you continued pursuing your artistic passions this passed year?

Last year I got the Sony FS700, a big step up from my Canon 5d Mark II. The challenge was figuring out how to work with all the features the camera has. It’s able to do a lot and now that I have figured out more about it, working with it is soo much fun! Another challenge I was able to overcome was developing the ONE 4 LA website. I had to learn a lot of coding from the internet to perfect the site.

Any advice and well-wishes that you would give to any fellow creative mind embarking upon the journey of feeding their passions/dreams within 2014?

My advice is to keep pursuing your dream. Constantly work towards your passion everyday and put a lot of time into it. Travel, whether around your neighborhood or around the world. Get inspired from your environment and the people around you. Find others who excel in your line of work and get motivated by their projects.
With 2013 behind us and 2014 in full swing, what are your artistic resolutions for this year?

My new artistic resolution is to create more personal work with other people. I want to create deeper stories within my films and really evoke the emotion with in the story.

Art has the power to empower, to transform and to give unlike many mediums… What do you hope to give through your work this year?

I hope to give other viewers an emotionally satisfying film. I hope to make them really feel the emotion being portrayed. I also hope to inspire others with my style of film and the way I create them.
