Cut the #Creative Cap

On February 2, 2014 by creativewavemovement

Unlike in sports- where the referred to cap sets a fine framework for salary holdings and the like- our creative cap is an element we don’t want; a fixture that only caps/stifles/holds-back the very flow of artistic display we have the potential to see manifest. So, what do we have to do to simply muddle through? Cut that sucker right off.

How many times have we actually capped our own creative genius? Two many times to count, I’m sure. We tend to exploit our talents, simply by not exercising or cultivating them enough.

Bar none: cut the creative cap and let the artistic genius flow.

Bar none: cut the creative cap and let the artistic genius flow.

It is a slippery slope, indeed. We convince ourselves that, perhaps, we don’t need to push our talents to their creative limits; we tell ourselves that we may not need to stick or stay with a piece as long as its completion requires. But the trick in defeating the very thing that seems to defeat our creative selves? Allowing that creativity to flow, and letting the passion necessary for dedication to follow.

If we get past trying to anticipate the length of time we should devote to a piece, a subject or creative idea– its inner workings; how its story will end with you, creatively– we’ll muster up the artistic courage to fight through creative fatigue and any road blocks that appear much too tall for our talents.

We have to cut the creative cap: the cap that we’ve often placed on our artistic capabilities; a cap that– once knocked off– can erupt a wave of incredible and creative flow of genius.

Let the Good Vibes and Creative Times Flow,

Lindz
