Eyes Wide Open
The inspiration we often seek; those creative drives of inspirational jives are often right in front of us… if only we would keep our eyes wide open.
I recently left the comfort of my home for a thrilling expedition in a city that could use a nap or two. New York City- with its wired 24 hours of thrill and fun, mayhem and manic- offered up a cool rendition of random spills of inspiration; Random bouts of pragmatic creativity.
Wisely roaming the streets of NYC’s Lower East Side, I discovered this beauty on a dingy garage door. How gorgeous, indeed.
It was super simple: I just had to be there: present in every moment, taking in the fullness of what I saw, heard smelled and experienced. The senses can fool us or help us.
In this case, I made sure to corner every ounce of sensory overload at the point of realization and understanding. Where I was, geographically, was exactly where I was mentally. If you look closely, creativity is all about us– just keep your eyes wide open for every moment.
